MAGNUS CARLSEN

At the age of five years, his father introduced him to chess. He then started studying under GM Simen Agdestein. And over the next 2 years, he was participating in the tournaments. During the teenage years, he was awarded the International Master Title and the Grandmaster Title. Magnus became the youngest Grandmaster. In January 2010 Magnus made it to the top of the FIDE rating list.

And in 2012, he won the London chess championship for the third time. In 2013, he won the candidates tournament and qualified for the world championship match. This game was played against Viswanathan Anand. And he became the World Champion by beating Anand 6,5 – 3,5. In 2018 Magnus took the rank of number 1 in the FIDE rapid and blitz rating lists. He also won tenth World Title and fourth World Blitz Title. Making him one of the finest Chess Players of all times.

GARRY KASPAROV

Garry Kasparov, top chess player

Garry Kimovich Kasparov was born in the Soviet Union. He is a former World Chess Champion and a Chairman of the Kasparov Chess Foundation. At the age of twelve, he became the under 18 chess champion of the USSR. And at the age of 17 years, he became the World under 20 Champion. At the age of 22 he became the youngest the best chess player in history in 1985. Until his retirement in 2005, he was ranked world Number one. And is known as one of the best Chess PLayers.

BOBBY FISCHER

Bobby Fischer

Robert James Fischer was the best chess player ever in history. At the age of 14 years, he won the US Championship. And at the age of 15 years, he became the youngest Grandmaster and the youngest candidate for the world championship. All eight times Fischer won the US championship.

Fisher is remembered as the best chess player ever for his win in 1972. He won the world championship by defeating Boris Spassky and became the 11th World Champion. He won 20 consecutive games in the World Championship. In January 2008, at the age of 64 years, he died of renal failure.

ANATOLY KARPOV

 Anatoly Karpov

Anatoly Karpov qualifies to be among the best chess players in history. He is also among the top five players in the World. He learned chess at the age of 4 years. And in 1969 he was the Junior Chess Champion. In 1974, he defeated Korchnoi and Spassky. And also challenged Fischer for the World Title. In 1995, he won the Linares tournament which is said to be the strongest tournament in the history of chess. And he is also known for his positional style.

VISWANATHAN ANAND

Viswanathan Anand

At the age of 16 years, Anand is the first Indian to win the Junior World Championship. He is India’s first Grandmaster and also became India’s first World Champion. Anand is among the best players to reach close to 2800 FIDE rating. He has almost won all the professional titles. And he was officially at top rank number 1 in November 2010. Today he is around 48 years but still ranks among the top 10 best players due to ELO rating.
